چکیده
Abstract Background Myocardial bridging (MB) is a congenital epicardial coronary abnormality, in which segment of the artery runs through myocardium, determining dynamic stenosis during systole. Whether MB can be responsible by itself for myocardial ischemia remains unclear. Thus, we aimed to evaluate whether related cause signs and symptoms ischemia. Methods We enrolled 41 consecutive patients who underwent angiography because chest pain suspected ischemic heart disease were found have absence any significant flow-limiting other cardiac disease. A group 14 also disease, but free or abnormality (including MB) showed negative results at exercise stress test (EST) served as controls. All maximal treadmill EST according standard Bruce protocol. complete echocardiographic examination was performed rest peak exercise. Results Baseline parameters comparable between groups, whereas diastolic blood pressure (pDBP) slightly higher (p=0.044). No clinically differences baseline parameters, although E wave deceleration time (DcT) longer (p=0.038) global longitudinal strain (GLS) (p=0.05) group. During exercise, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) improved significantly both groups (p<0.001), without difference 2 groups. GLS did not show changes with Moreover, among patients, no those positive vs. EST. Conclusions failed demonstrate impairment LV systolic function MB. dysfunction that developed ECG EST, compared evidence our data question about ability trigger clinical practice.

myocardial bridging with systolic compression of the left anterior descending coronary artery (lad) may be associated with myocardial ischemia. in symptomatic myocardial bridging unresponsive to medical treatment, surgical unroofing of the left lad can be performed. little information is available about the long-term prognosis of patients with this coronary anomaly after the surgical unroofing,...
متن کاملDoes Heart Affect Peripheral Vascular Resistance Following Myocardial Ischemia and Reperfusion?
Objective(s) The aim of this study was to investigate the overall effect of cardiac vasoactive factors during coronary occlusion and reperfusion on peripheral vascular tone, using a sequential isolated rabbit heart-ear perfusion model. Materials and Methods Isolated ears were perfused with the effluent of isolated hearts subjected to ischemia (30 min) and reperfusion (180 min, n=6). The comp...
متن کاملMyocardial Bridging
Myocardial bridging is rare. Myocardial bridges are most commonly localized in the middle segment of the left anterior descending coronary artery. The anatomic features of the bridges vary significantly. Alterations of the endothelial morphology and the vasoactive agents impact on the progression of atherosclerosis of myocardial bridging. Patients may present with chest pain, myocardial infarct...
متن کاملMyocardial bridging.
The author reports a case of an applicant whose myocardial bridging caused myocardial infarction. It had been thought that most instances of bridging were of little clinical significance. However, there have been reports showing that severe bridging of the left anterior descending coronary can produce myocardial ischemia or sudden death.
